Hello!

I’m excited to be back with another blog post for you all!

This month, I want to share a little bit of information about what has inspired me throughout the choreographic process of “Disney’s Descendants.” I am choreographing four numbers for the musical this spring! The numbers include, “Be Our Guest,” “Goal,” “Better Together,” and, a fan favorite, “Did I Mention.”

The first number that I started working on with our cast was “Be Our Guest.” I felt very inspired to use a napkin or scarf prop within the choreography, since the song originally took place in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” during a dining room scene. I love to utilize props in my choreography, as they can add a lot of color and texture to the stage!

I was delighted to come up with the movement in “Goal” for our cheerleaders and crowd members! I decided to give our ensemble pom-poms in the Auradonian colors of blue and gold. The dance includes shaking the shiny props while cheering for both teams during the tourney game!

“Better Together” takes place at the very end of the show, during the coronation scene. I felt really inspired to utilize different directions on the stage to add dimension to the movement. The song has a wonderful message and I have loved watching the cast connect with each other during rehearsals with this number!

“Did I Mention” is a big number in the show! It’s a very important moment between two of the main characters, Mal and Ben. The cheerleaders and crowd members also have pom-poms in this scene! It’s very high energy and I incorporated some movement from cheer routines within the choreography. The dance also allows for some creative opportunities for our cast! You’ll see high kicks, the wave, and a heartfelt proclamation of love onstage!

I’d love to see y’all at one of our shows on March 28th or 29th! You can buy tickets with this link below!
